Horse and Livestock Health That Fits Your Needs

Horse Wellness
Every horse owner is unique, and we aim to meet your needs—be it for pleasure, performance, working horse, or broodmare. For our equine patients, we provide a wide range of veterinary services, including:

  • lameness exams
  • internal medicine evaluations
  • surgical procedures
  • radiology
  • dentistry
  • reproduction
  • ranch visits

Through advanced technology, we offer performance floats that aid in both horse health and performance using full-mouth speculums and motorized dental tools. Our ultrasound technology aids in the evaluation of tendons and muscles. Ultrasound is also preferred for viewing the reproductive tract of broodmares, in determining when to artificially inseminate mares, and for early pregnancy detection.

Chaparral Veterinary Center boasts an on-site EIA (coggins) Laboratory offering quick turn around time on coggins certificates for horse owners on the go.

SILVER Semi-Annual Equine Wellness Program:

  • The physical exam is an important part of your horse’s health care visit. We perform a health evaluation of your horse to identify any potential abnormalities or problems. Semi-annual examinations allow us to carefully monitor changes in your horse’s health and potentially diagnose a problem before it has a chance to become serious. The time and effort invested in a wellness program has rewards for both you, and your horse.
  • Immunizations:
    • Core vaccinations are administered during the semi-annual wellness visits (including: VEE, EEE, WEE, Tetanus, West Nile, Rhinopneumonitis, Influenza, Strangles, Rabies).
  • Dental Care
    • Administration of sedative
    • Full oral examination with speculum
  • Diagnostic tests
    • Cogginstest (digital format – Global Vet Link)
    • Fecal analysis (eggs per gram count)
  • Parasite Control
    • A de-worming treatment is administered. A strategic de-worming protocol will be recommended based upon fecal analysis results.
